Reusable gas grenades, spring poppers or single-use pyro? This is the independent guide to airsoft BB and frag grenades: how they work, what fields allow, and where to buy them in the Netherlands and Belgium. Smoke grenades? We cover those too.
See the types Straight to the shopsEvery BB grenade does the same job: put BBs (or a bang) everywhere at once. How it gets there decides the price, the reload time and whether your field allows it.
Fill with green gas, load BBs, throw. On impact the valve dumps and BBs spray 360°. Reusable hundreds of times: the Storm Apocalypse and Cyclone-style models are the CQB standard. €35–70 once, then cents per throw.
Wind up the spring core, load BBs, throw. Simpler and cheaper than gas, slightly less violent spread. Great first grenade and immune to cold weather, which gas grenades are not.
Single-use grenades with a small charge that scatters BBs with a real bang. Maximum realism and intimidation, but consumed per throw and only allowed on fields that permit pyro. Sold 18+.
Thunderflash-style pyro (like the MK5) and electronic sound grenades produce the bang without the BBs. On frag-radius fields the bang alone clears the room, which makes them the cleanest option indoors.

Gas and spring models that last for seasons.
Single-use bang, maximum realism.
Cover the push before you frag the room.
A throwable device that scatters BBs by gas pressure, a spring core or a small pyrotechnic charge. On most fields every player within the frag radius is out when it goes off.
Reusable. A gas or spring impact grenade costs more once but pays for itself within two game days compared to pyro, and it is allowed on nearly every field.
Green gas loses pressure below roughly 10°C, so gas grenades get noticeably weaker outdoors in winter. Spring models do not care about temperature.
Gas and spring BB grenades are airsoft equipment and legal to own for players. Pyro grenades are consumer pyrotechnics: 18+, restricted to fields, events and private terrain with permission, and never allowed in public spaces.
Smoke is its own category with its own rules. We wrote a full guide at airsoftsmokes.com.
